My time in New South Wales has predominantly been spent in Sydney.  Of course multiple trips to the Opera House, Mrs. Mac's Point, Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge were on each of my trip itineraries, but I made sure to visit some of New South Wales' less-known ports of call as well.

While in Sydney, spending time perusing, bartering and shopping at Paddy's Markets was a thrill even for a penny-pincher like me.

Still in the city, taking the famous Manly Ferry across the Sydney Harbour provides great views back at the city and is a must-do.

A wander through the Royal Botanical Gardens is very peaceful and would make a landscaping perfectionist feel bad.

If the timing is right, catch a rugby game in New South Wales.  If you don't understand or like the game, sit through it anyway.  It's a fun experience even for the unfamiliar aficionado.

A road trip from Melbourne to Sydney took me through Glenrowan, the town where Australia's most infamous outlaw Ned Kelly had his last stand.  Thankfully I wore modern clothes and wasn't toting a weapon, because my 6-month-old beard got plenty of looks at the Ned Kelly Museum.

Another enjoyable road trip in New South Wales took me to Byron Bay and out to the most easterly point of the Australian mainland.  The coastline is always a beautiful sight and I enjoyed watching whales breach the surface of the Coral Sea.
